Where are the Similan Islands?
The Similan Islands is an archipelago in the Andaman Sea. The islands are off the coast of southern Thailand and are in the national park, Mu Ko Similan.
“National Geographic Society ranked the Similan Islands as “One of the Top 10 dive destinations to visit in the World”. Spotting might Manta Rays & Whale sharks basking around the massive boulders is truly a spectacular sight.“
National Geographic.
Thailand liveaboard trips to the Similan Islands run from November through to May, which is due to the fact that the islands are closed for the rest of the year.
If your preference is to see whale sharks and manta rays, the end of February is a good time for this, as there’s an increase in currents at this time of year which attracts them.
