Liveaboard Diving in Daedalus Reef

Daedalus liveaboard diving is about amazing coral reefs, Anemone City, colourful reef fish, schooling hammerheads and oceanic whitetip sharks. Daedalus is a protected marine park and only accessed by liveaboard and is often dived as part of the Shark Triangle including Elphinstone and The Brothers.

A Daedalus liveaboard is the only way to scuba dive Daedalus Reef, Red Sea. Daedalus Reef is a marine park, which is why it is so pristine and full of marine life.

Daedalus Reef has amazing coral reefs, which include hard corals, soft corals and an array of colourful reef fish. Plus Daedalus Reef is where you are likely to see large napoleon wrasse, sharks such as schooling hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, thresher sharks, reef sharks and the occasional whale shark if you’re lucky, and manta rays too.

For those who like wreck diving and who are suitably certified technical divers, you can also dive the Zealot wreck dive to 80-120 metres (262-394).

It is important to note that the currents can be strong around Daedalus Reef, which means you should have the relevant experience and certification to dive in a drift dive.

This means that Daedalus Reef diving is for intermediate to advanced divers only, as you will need to dive from a zodiac (or RIB) using a negative entry.

Where is Daedalus Reef?

Daedalus Reef is 85 kilometres (53 miles) east-southeast from Marsa Alam off the coast of Egypt, 324 kilometres (203m) from Hurghada and 360 kilometres (225m) from Sharm El Sheikh. You can board a Daedalus Reef liveaboard from Marsa Alam, Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh to dive this remote dive site.
