Where is Marsa Alam?

Marsa Alam is 287 kilometres (179 miles) south of Hurghada on mainland Egypt about 50 kilometres (31 miles) north of Wadi el Gemal National Park. You cannot dive the SS Thistlegorm from Marsa Alam, as the Thistlegorm is too far north from this port. If you want to dive the Thistlegorm wreck it’s best to book a liveaboard from Sharm El Sheik or a liveaboard from Hurghada instead.

Unless you are prepared for a long day at sea, with an early departure and a 3-4 hour day-boat ride each way, you can dive the Thistlegorm from a dive resort like Sharm El Sheik too.

Can you Dive Daedalus From Marsa Alam?
