So are there great white sharks in the Sea of Cortez, Mexico? Video evidence and research has shown that great white sharks are found in the Sea of Cortez, as the water temperature in the Sea of Cortez ranges from 19-24°C (66-75°F), which is the perfect temperature range for the great white shark that prefer waters at 12-24°C (54-75 °F).

The above answer may or may not worry you, depending on if you would like to see great white sharks when you dive in the Sea of Cortez. However, sightings of great white sharks in the Sea of Cortez are very rare.

Scientists have discovered a great white shark pupping ground in the Sea of Cortez. Great white sharks give birth to live young, which are up to 5 feet (1.5 metres) long at birth.

Are there great white sharks in Mexico?

There are many great white sharks in Mexico, and Mexico is one of the best places in the world to dive with great white sharks at Guadalupe Island (Isla Guadalupe). Guadalupe Island, also known as “Island of the Mega Shark“, is located about 150 miles (240k) of the coast of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.

In fact Guadalupe Island is where one of the largest ever great white sharks has been filmed. The great white shark is Deep Blue, a female great white shark measuring 19 feet (5.79 metres).

Newly found footage of the 20-foot long great white was recorded off Mexico’s Guadalupe Island by shark expert Mauricio Hoyos Padilla in 2013.

But then Discovery channel recorded this 20 foot (6 metre) great white shark at the island of the mega shark (Guadalupe Island, Mexico). Looking at the markings on this largest ever filmed great white shark, she isn’t deep Blue. This means there are two very large great white sharks at Guadalupe Island…how exiting, especially as I’m off to dive there in October 2022!

Are great white sharks in Cabo An Lucas?

There are great white sharks in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, as they swim past this tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula into the Sea of Cortez. There is a large population of great white sharks off this coast of Mexico at the Guadalupe Island, and it’s thought that great whites use the Sea of Cortez as a pupping ground.

Are There Great White Sharks In The Sea of Cortez
