What are the advantages of catamaran liveaboard diving?

There are a few advantages of catamaran liveaboard diving, as follows:

  1. A catamaran liveaboard is much better in a following sea, as a monohull will plow under the wave ahead as it comes down.
  2. Catamarans offer a smoother ride than a monohull, especially in our rough water.
  3. Catamaran liveaboards are superior in every way in rough seas.
  4. Due to the twin-hull design, catamarans perform better in head seas compared to monohulls.
  5. Catamaran liveaboards offer more stability, which is better for those divers who don’t have great sea-legs and are prone to seasickness.
  6. Multihulls provide for much more space.

Article written by Russell Bowyer who has been a scuba diver since diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia in 1989. After his first dive he trained as a BSAC diver in the UK. He attained his Diver Leader certification with BSAC. He then went on to become a scuba diving instructor, teaching others how to dive and was voted as Diving Officer and Treasurer for the Saffron Walden BSAC club too.
