The Thai Cave Rescuers receive a PADI medal of valour

The five scuba divers who rescued the 12 boys, together with their football coach, from the Chiang Rai caves earlier in July this year are to be awarded PADI's first ever 'Medal of Valour' in recognition of their rescue and achievement.

Scuba divers: Rick Stanton, John Volanthen, Dr Richard Harris, Jason Mallinson and Chris Jewell will be awarded this medal on 13th November 2018 at PADI's social event at this year's DEMA show in Las Vegas.

These school boys and their coach were trapped for a total of 19 days before they were finally rescued. This was after the monsoon rains flooded the Tham Luang cave system in northern Thailand.
