One of the best dive trips we have made. We saw every creature the cruise director promissed. We had a very international dive group with similar levels of experiences.”

Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Mermaid II Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer, I've led dive training and operations. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

Best I’ve done. From the moment we stepped on board to the moment we stepped off, the crew were all completely focussed on making the trip one to remember. The standard of professionalism, attention to detail, subject matter knowledge, helpfulness, patience and ‘sense of humour’ were consistent both on the boat and in the water. What was also impressive was the passing of information and that everyone knew what was happening and when. The safety of diving in and out of the water was at a very high standard. It was a confidence builder for the less experienced divers who could see they were in safe hands. This is the first Liveaboard trip that I have said I would come back and do again. Of the 15+ trips I’ve done over the years on liveaboards, this was the best I’ve been on. Well done Luca, Daria, Ketut and Desi and all the rest of the crew. Brilliant.”

Recommended for: Variety and quantity of things we saw underwater; Whale Sharks, Manta, Frig Fish, Bob Tail Squid, Bottletail Squid, Marbled Ray, Pigmy Seahorse, Scorpion Leaf fish, Octopus, Reef Sharks, Moray etc etc. Crew and Dive Guides. The boat was lovely, recently refurbished. Food was great..

All Indonesia's Discounted Liveaboard Deals & Last Minute Discounts

All liveaboard reviews on this site are written based on my real diving experience, from hundreds of dives across reefs, wreck dives, shark dives, deep dives, night dives and drysuit diving.

I’ve cold water dived in the UK, warm water dived from many of the Caribbean islands, dived both the east and west coasts of Australia, the Red Sea, South Africa and dived the east and west coasts of the USA, and I’ve also spent time and enjoyed diving from liveaboards myself too.

My aim; to always give you clear, honest, practical advice, so you can book the right dive boat and enjoy the best possible liveaboard diving holiday, be that on the Mermaid II Liveaboard or any other liveaboard I've reviewed on Scuba Diving Earth.
