Emperor Raja Laut Liveaboard Review - Expert Guide to Choosing Your Liveaboard

Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Emperor Raja Laut Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

Read more about Russell's diving experience

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer and diving instructor, I've taught many people to dive and taken a lot of the divers I taught on their first dive. I also used to organise and run dive trips in the UK, with one of my favourites being expeditions to the Farne Islands to dive with the seals. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience, having dived from liveaboards myself and loved it. This is why I came up with the SDE Liveaboard Rating* to help you choose the best liveaboard for you.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

An Unforgettable First Liveaboard Experience on the Emperor ja Laut. My first liveaboard experience aboard the Emperor Raja Laut was nothing short of incredible. This beautiful wooden schooner provided the perfect setting for my first dives in Raja Ampat, a destination that truly lives up to its reputation as a diver’s paradise. As a relatively new diver with less than 100 dives as compared to the others divers, my dive master was incredibly attentive, ensuring I felt safe and confident throughout. The crew and cruise director put in a visible effort to find the most challenging and diverse dive sites in the northern and central regions of Raja Ampat, making each dive an adventure. From vibrant coral gardens to thrilling drift dives, every site offered something unique. By the end of the trip, I was completely hooked on liveaboard diving. The combination of world-class diving, expert guidance, and the charm of the Emperor Raja Laut made this an unforgettable experience. I can't wait for my next liveaboard adventure!”
