Taviana’s Wall is a coral shelf that rolls over into one of Roatán’s colourful sponge-covered walls. The top allows an easy start before the dive settles onto the wall. Divers should choose a fixed depth rather than follow the reef downward, and finish with a drifting safety stop when required.

The Bay Islands are known for warm Caribbean water, coral walls and abundant reef life, but each site has its own reason to be included. At Taviana’s Wall, divers should slow down enough to notice the reef as well as looking into open water. Turtles, rays, groupers, jacks and barracuda are all possible, while sponges, sea fans, moray eels and smaller reef fish reward a closer look.

The wall is accessible from shore-based operations, but a liveaboard can arrive before local boats and continue along Roatán without returning to the same harbour between dives. Night diving may be possible on the wider itinerary, but the crew selects a sheltered site according to conditions; Taviana’s Wall should only be treated as the night-dive location when the operator confirms it.

The site combines well with Mary’s Place and Wreck of the Aguila, giving the itinerary a useful change of depth, terrain or diving style. A dive computer and surface marker buoy are sensible throughout the Bay Islands. Nitrox is useful for repetitive diving when the diver is qualified and the operator provides it.
