Rábida’s red-sand beach is one of the Galápagos Islands’ most distinctive visitor landings. Iron-rich volcanic material gives the shore its deep red colour, while sea lions rest on the beach and brown pelicans nest nearby. A lagoon behind the beach can attract flamingos, although they are not guaranteed on every visit.

This is not a scuba dive site. Activities normally involve a guided walk, wildlife watching and sometimes snorkelling from the beach. Marine iguanas, rays, turtles and reef fish may be seen around the shallows, but the exact programme depends on National Park permission and sea conditions.

Liveaboards include Rábida to add a land and shallow-water experience between diving days. The stop may be linked with Isla Santiago, Punta Bartolomé or other central-islands locations. Arriving by liveaboard also avoids treating Rábida as a separate excursion from Santa Cruz.
