Odyssey Wreck is a large purpose-sunk freighter resting upright off Roatán’s north coast. The upper structure is reached at advanced recreational depth and the sand is deeper, so gas, no-decompression time and ascent control need careful management. Penetration is not part of an ordinary recreational wreck tour.

The Bay Islands are known for warm Caribbean water, coral walls and abundant reef life, but each site has its own reason to be included. At Odyssey Wreck, divers should slow down enough to notice the reef as well as looking into open water. Turtles, rays, groupers, jacks and barracuda are all possible, while sponges, sea fans, moray eels and smaller reef fish reward a closer look.

A liveaboard can put divers on the mooring early and pair the Odyssey with a shallower reef later in the day. This avoids turning a deep wreck into one rushed stop among several day-boat schedules. Night diving may be possible on the wider itinerary, but the crew selects a sheltered site according to conditions; Odyssey Wreck should only be treated as the night-dive location when the operator confirms it.

The site combines well with Wreck of the Aguila and Halliburton Wreck, giving the itinerary a useful change of depth, terrain or diving style. A dive computer and surface marker buoy are sensible throughout the Bay Islands. Nitrox is useful for repetitive diving when the diver is qualified and the operator provides it.
