Halliburton Wreck is an upright 30-metre cargo vessel deliberately sunk in 1998 to form an artificial reef. The bridge begins at roughly 20 metres, the main deck sits near 25 metres and the sand reaches about 30 metres. Recreational divers can enjoy the exterior; entering the wreck requires proper wreck training and an operator-approved plan.

The Bay Islands are known for warm Caribbean water, coral walls and abundant reef life, but each site has its own reason to be included. At Halliburton Wreck, divers should slow down enough to notice the reef as well as looking into open water. Turtles, rays, groupers, jacks and barracuda are all possible, while sponges, sea fans, moray eels and smaller reef fish reward a closer look.

A liveaboard makes it easier to schedule the wreck early, before several Utila day boats arrive, and to combine it with a shallower second dive or a night dive elsewhere on the reef. Night diving may be possible on the wider itinerary, but the crew selects a sheltered site according to conditions; Halliburton Wreck should only be treated as the night-dive location when the operator confirms it.

The site combines well with Odyssey Wreck and Wreck of the Aguila, giving the itinerary a useful change of depth, terrain or diving style. A dive computer and surface marker buoy are sensible throughout the Bay Islands. Nitrox is useful for repetitive diving when the diver is qualified and the operator provides it.
