Long Caye Wall follows the reef edge at remote Glover’s Reef Atoll, where coral-covered ledges and sponges give way to clear blue water. The wall provides an easy visual reference during the dive, but its depth means divers must manage buoyancy and computer limits rather than allowing the scenery to draw them gradually deeper.

Sea fans, soft corals and large sponges cover the structure, with snappers, parrotfish, damselfish and grouper using the reef for shelter. Hawksbill and loggerhead turtles may feed along the edge, while spotted eagle rays and Caribbean reef sharks can appear in the blue. Sand beside the reef may hold garden eels, and shaded ledges provide space for lobsters, arrow crabs and moray eels.

Intermediate experience is appropriate because the site combines a wall profile with the possibility of current. Stay level with the guide, monitor gas and depth, and carry a surface marker buoy for a drifting ascent if required. The atoll’s remoteness makes liveaboard diving the practical advantage here. Staying offshore means you can enter the water before long-range day boats arrive, fit several dives into the day and move between contrasting sites as conditions change. Long Caye Wall pairs naturally with Southwest Caye Wall and the shallower coral terrain at Emerald Forest Reef.

Liveaboards may also offer a night dive at a suitable afternoon site, giving you the chance to see lobsters, crabs, octopus and hunting tarpon after sunset.
