Duppy Waters Liveaboard Dive Site

Duppy Waters is a remote north-side wall dropping into the deep water of the Cayman Trench. The wall makes depth easy to lose, particularly when visibility is excellent. Divers should hold a planned level, keep the reef in sight and be ready for a drifting safety stop.

The Bay Islands are known for warm Caribbean water, coral walls and abundant reef life, but each site has its own reason to be included. At Duppy Waters, divers should slow down enough to notice the reef as well as looking into open water. Turtles, rays, groupers, jacks and barracuda are all possible, while sponges, sea fans, moray eels and smaller reef fish reward a closer look.

North-side access depends on weather. A liveaboard can approach from the best direction, dive before local traffic builds and substitute a sheltered site without losing a full diving day. Night diving may be possible on the wider itinerary, but the crew selects a sheltered site according to conditions; Duppy Waters should only be treated as the night-dive location when the operator confirms it.

The site combines well with CJ’s Drop-off and Old Bank, giving the itinerary a useful change of depth, terrain or diving style. A dive computer and surface marker buoy are sensible throughout the Bay Islands. Nitrox is useful for repetitive diving when the diver is qualified and the operator provides it.
