Solmar V Liveaboard Review - Expert Guide to Choosing Your Liveaboard

Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Solmar V Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

Read more about Russell's diving experience

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer and diving instructor, I've taught many people to dive and taken a lot of the divers I taught on their first dive. I also used to organise and run dive trips in the UK, with one of my favourites being expeditions to the Farne Islands to dive with the seals. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience, having dived from liveaboards myself and loved it. This is why I came up with the SDE Liveaboard Rating* to help you choose the best liveaboard for you.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

If you're up for some pretty hard core diving, it's a fantastic way to get close to these big animals. Really well organised trip, and very smooth on the diving front despite number of divers on a relatively small boat. The dive guides are crew are incredibly hard working (actually I would say over-worked), but always up for a laugh and a friendly smile. Briefings were very good, and the talks on mantas, shark identification, and conservation efforts (including Clarion angelfish) were excellent. But of course the highlights were the close encounters with giant mantas, sharks and dolphins.”

Recommended for: Awesome close encounters with mantas, sharks, dolphins. Really friendly and helpful dive guides and crew members. Good food, and plenty of it; and nice touches like hot drinks after each dive.
