Nai'a Liveaboard Review - Expert Guide to Choosing Your Liveaboard

Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Nai'a Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

Read more about Russell's diving experience

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer and diving instructor, I've taught many people to dive and taken a lot of the divers I taught on their first dive. I also used to organise and run dive trips in the UK, with one of my favourites being expeditions to the Farne Islands to dive with the seals. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience, having dived from liveaboards myself and loved it. This is why I came up with the SDE Liveaboard Rating* to help you choose the best liveaboard for you.

My score of the Nai'a liveaboard is 4/5 on the SDE Underwater Photographer Rating, as it has 4 of the 5 key photographer facilities (see below).

The Nai'a liveaboard has a dedicated camera station close to the dive deck, which lets you gear up quickly, check your housing and swap batteries or memory cards between dives. In addition, it offers a separate rinse tank for underwater cameras, which is crucial for protecting expensive camera equipment from scratches and damage.

Also a dedicated camera tank avoids any risks that can arise from sharing space with general diving gear, such as regulators, wetsuits, and heavy fins to avoid contamitation from sand, salt, debris and any chemicals. What’s more, it provides dedicated charging stations for cameras, strobes, torches and laptops so your batteries are always topped up and ready for your next dive.

You’ll also find it has free WiFi internet onboard, which makes it easier to back up RAW files to the cloud and share images with friends and family while you are at sea.

Below I've listed the 5 key underwater photographer features for the Nai'a liveaboard, where for this liveaboard it includes 4 of the 5 key features.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

Best way to dive in Fiji. I booked this liveaboard hoping to see humpbacks and was not disappointed. The locals' knowledge of the whales and their movements is very good. All the sites we visited were stunning... coral life in Fiji is rich, colourful and plentiful. Lots of fish around the reefs plus pelagics, mantas and lots of sharks (including hammerheads). The boat itself isn't the biggest one I've been on but it has everything a diver needs... plus a few comforts not offered by other boats like lots of hot water, toilets that allow us to flush everything, efficient aircon in the rooms, a food menu offering a choice of 2 or 3 dishes. Can't fault the DMs or support staff on the boat who were helpful and friendly.”

Recommended for: Beautiful dive sites. Saw humpback whales -- snorkeling. 4 dives a day on most days.

My aim; to always give you clear, honest, practical advice, so you can book the right dive boat and enjoy the best possible liveaboard diving holiday, be that on the Nai'a or any other liveaboard I've reviewed on Scuba Diving Earth.
