Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Explorer 1 Catamaran Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer, I've led dive training and operations. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

Great small-group liveaboard. The liveaboard with Explorer 1 was great. Since we were only three divers with three crew on the boat, the service was very personal and always adapted to the external conditions (swell, weather, diving conditions). From dive guide Joey to Captain Sparrow to cook Rosie, this was a great team. Thank you very much for the great week.”

Recommended for: the nice and competent crew. small group (3 divers + 3 crew). Selection of exchange spots.

All Seychelles's Discounted Liveaboard Deals & Last Minute Discounts

All liveaboard reviews on this site are written based on my real diving experience, from hundreds of dives across reefs, wreck dives, shark dives, deep dives, night dives and drysuit diving.

I’ve cold water dived in the UK, warm water dived from many of the Caribbean islands, dived both the east and west coasts of Australia, the Red Sea, South Africa and dived the east and west coasts of the USA, and I’ve also spent time and enjoyed diving from liveaboards myself too.

My aim; to always give you clear, honest, practical advice, so you can book the right dive boat and enjoy the best possible liveaboard diving holiday, be that on the Explorer 1 Catamaran or any other liveaboard I've reviewed on Scuba Diving Earth.
