Great liveaboard experience. Had the best time. Dive sites were just great and we were lucky to see a manta. Also turtles, few octopuses, giant schools of fish and beautiful reefs full of life. Very professional and friendly staff. Everything was well organized.”

Dolphin Queen Liveaboard Review - Expert Guide to Choosing Your Liveaboard

Russell Bowyer here. I've written this Dolphin Queen Liveaboard review to help you choose the right liveaboard with confidence. As a qualified diving instructor and Advanced BSAC Diver with 500+ dives worldwide, I've helped countless divers pick their perfect liveaboard - whether it's your first time liveaboard or you're an experienced diver seeking your next adventure.

Read more about Russell's diving experience

My diving experience spans cold-water UK drysuit dives, warm coral reefs in the Caribbean, the Red Sea, the Great Barrier Reef, and South Africa. As a former BSAC Diving Officer and diving instructor, I've taught many people to dive and taken a lot of the divers I taught on their first dive. I also used to organise and run dive trips in the UK, with one of my favourites being expeditions to the Farne Islands to dive with the seals. I've logged every type of dive: decompression stop deep dives, wreck dives, shark dives, night dives, drift dives, and everything in between. This hands-on experience means I know exactly what makes a great liveaboard experience, having dived from liveaboards myself and loved it. This is why I came up with the SDE Liveaboard Rating* to help you choose the best liveaboard for you.

Customer review from Liveaboard.com

Amazing and Can't wait to go again! I LOVED this trip! This was my first time on a liveaboard and I can't wait to do it again. I am a little worried that Similan Diving Safaris set the bar too high for any other trip I go on in the future! The guides were very friendly and split everyone into smaller groups. They matched all dives to diver level, going farther and deeper when divers proved they could handle it. There was plenty of food all the time, which was really good and authentic. Best vacation I've been on!”

Recommended for: Super knowledgeable and friendly guides. Beautiful dive sites. Great food.

All Thailand's Discounted Liveaboard Deals & Last Minute Discounts

All liveaboard reviews on this site are written based on my real diving experience, from hundreds of dives across reefs, wreck dives, shark dives, deep dives, night dives and drysuit diving.

I’ve cold water dived in the UK, warm water dived from many of the Caribbean islands, dived both the east and west coasts of Australia, the Red Sea, South Africa and dived the east and west coasts of the USA, and I’ve also spent time and enjoyed diving from liveaboards myself too.

My aim; to always give you clear, honest, practical advice, so you can book the right dive boat and enjoy the best possible liveaboard diving holiday, be that on the Dolphin Queen or any other liveaboard I've reviewed on Scuba Diving Earth.
