Espinosa Point lies on Fernandina Island, one of the youngest and most volcanically active parts of the Galápagos archipelago. It is best known for enormous colonies of marine iguanas spread across dark lava, together with flightless cormorants, sea lions, penguins and Sally Lightfoot crabs. This is primarily a guided landing and wildlife experience, not a conventional scuba dive site.

The visit demonstrates how closely Galápagos wildlife is tied to the volcanic landscape. Marine iguanas enter the cold water to feed on algae, then gather on the lava to warm themselves. Visitors must follow marked routes and the naturalist guide’s instructions because the animals can be exceptionally dense around the trail.

Some itineraries add snorkelling when conditions and National Park permissions allow. The nearby scuba experience is Cabo Douglas, while Punta Vicente Roca lies across the channel at Isabela. A liveaboard makes it possible to combine these remote western locations without a long return journey.
