Punta Vicente Roca Liveaboard Dive Site

Punta Vicente Roca sits beneath the steep volcanic cliffs of northern Isabela, where the collapsed edge of Ecuador Volcano meets cold, productive water. Mola mola are the headline attraction, joined by turtles, penguins, sea lions, seahorses, frogfish and batfish. The interest often lies in unusual cold-water species and behaviour rather than tropical coral scenery.

Thermoclines can be pronounced and visibility may change during the same dive. Surge and current are possible around the point, making warm exposure protection and disciplined group positioning important. Mola mola sightings are never guaranteed, and divers should avoid chasing animals into deeper or less controlled water.

The site is remote, so a liveaboard is the practical access method. Routes often combine it with Cabo Douglas, creating two very different western-islands encounters without returning to port. Night diving is unlikely at this exposed location and would normally be scheduled elsewhere.
