Popular The Brothers Liveaboards
MY JP Marine; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 8.7 out of 10 and is rated 'Fabulous'; from £81, $99, €92/day. Customer Review: “Fantastic, food, tank filling (250), crew, Dive sites, and Dive Guides even Fantasticer friendly & flexible with safety always in mind. Caves & gullies. White tip reef shark. Nidibranches. Tuna cleaning station. Snorkel with dolfins. Multitude of reef fish and intact corals.” Recommended for: Trouble shooting guides! Clear briefings ( also a plan B). Multinational friendly fellow divers. |
MY Emperor Elite; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 9.2 out of 10 and is rated 'Superb'; from £108, $132, €123/day. Customer Review: “Better than a 5 star hotel. There were highlights for each dive, but being on scuba with a pod of 14+ dolphins around us for almost 10 minutes was incredible. Diving the Thistlegorm has been a goal ever since I started diving 18 years ago, and being able to dive it 3 times, one after the other was truly a wonderful experience. Our guides and boat went to great efforts to ensure that the sites we visited were easy to dive without there being the need to swim too far or be overwhelmed by other diving tours – Most of the time we felt like we were the nylon divers there, and the Red Sea belonged to us. We will definitely be back!” Recommended for: The crew were always friendly, helpful and willing to assist with anything and everything to do with our stay on board as well the diving experience, whether it was gearing up, gearing down for diving, or waiting for you with a warm drink after a cool night dive. We always felt welcome on-board. The dive guides were incredibly knowledgeable about each site we visited, and always acted with our best interests in mind, ensuring both our enjoyment and safety. The meals on board are just out of this world. |
MY Discovery II (Samira); Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 8.7 out of 10 and is rated 'Fabulous'; from £82, $100, €93/day. Customer Review: ”Very enjoyable Red Sea Safari. Food on-board was very good, excellent dive guides prioritised safety and generally were very helpful and considerate throughout. Boat overall was comfortable and had a lovely relaxed feel all week. The only minor criticism I can make is they have no library on board apart from fish ID books – so take plenty of reading, and the seating on the open deck was not very comfortable for me. Overall a very enjoyable trip and I we will certainly be booking onto a Discovery liveaboard again.” Recommended for: Diverse guest group, relaxed atmosphere, good diving. |
MY Discovery I (Amelia); Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 8.7 out of 10 and is rated 'Fabulous'; from £78, $110, €103/day. Customer Review: ”I thoroughly enjoyed my week on the the Amelia. We were very lucky during our dive on the south side of Elphinstone. Sharks and Dolpins in one dive. This more than made up for the north side and some of the other relatively mundane dive sites. In general if you like diving on reefs with coral gardens / pinnacles or through cave systems that are open to light above then this is the trip for you. The deep south tour is not something you should take if you are more interested in just seeing some sharks.” Recommended for: The crew were really very helpful, a very nice mix of divers from other countries, and some very nice dives. |
MY Sea Serpent Grand; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 9.1 out of 10 and is rated 'Superb'; from £135, $165, €154/day. Customer Review: “Excellent boat but dive sites not respected. A 20 min dive with 2 tiger sharks + 1 longimanus + 1 silky. AWESOME. the dive of the century!!!!!. It was supposed to be a rocky/zabargad/st John’s trip. Why going to daedalus and not rocky/zabargad???? Unthinkable…..” Recommended for: Diving time long. Food. Saloon. |
MV Sea Serpent Contessa Mia; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 9.2 out of 10 and is rated 'Superb'; from £114, $139, €130/day. Customer Review: “Great trip. Great diving. The wrecks and reefs exceeded my expectations and the dolphins at 20m were the highlight. Comfy boat with nice facilities.” Recommended for: Guides, itinery and dive sites. |

Red Sea The Brothers Liveaboard Diving
The Brothers liveaboard diving is about wrecks and shark diving with hammerheads and oceanic whitetips. The Brothers (El Akhawein) are 2 small islands in a marine park 140k (88m) from Hurghada and only accessed by liveaboard and often dived in the Shark Triangle including Elphinstone and Daedalus.
A Brothers liveaboard is the only way to scuba dive The Brothers, Red Sea. The Brothers are in a protected marine park, which is why it is so pristine and full of marine life.
The Brothers Islands are one of the standout dive sites of the Red Sea and are among the 10 best dive spots in the world.
The Brothers Islands have amazing coral reefs, which include hard corals, soft corals, gorgonias and an array of colourful reef fish. Plus The Brothers Islands are where you are likely to see large napoleon wrasse, sharks such as schooling hammerhead sharks, oceanic whitetip sharks, thresher sharks, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, and possibly even manta rays.
Little Brother Island Diving
Little Brother Island is best for amazing wall diving, which are covered by pristine hard and soft coral. Here you are likely to spot schooling hammerhead sharks, grey reef sharks and silvertip sharks. The seabed is at around 47 metres (154 feet), with the top of the island being quite shallow.
Big Brother Island Diving
Big Brother Island is where you are more likely to encounter the very curious oceanic whitetip shark. If you love scuba diving with sharks, you will love Big Brother, as you may also see other shark species such as hammerheads, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks and possibly even a thresher shark.
Be careful when diving with oceanic whitetip sharks, as they are very curious, and if you’re not alert and aware, you may end up being attacked by an oceanic whitetip.
Brothers Island Red Sea Shark Attack
I share this Brothers oceanic whitetip shark attack video, not to scare you, but to warn you of the dangers of diving with oceanic whitetip sharks.
Before you go to the Red Sea, you might like to read the following article about how to stay safe around oceanic whitetip sharks when diving The Brothers: Brothers Shark Attack: Oceanic Whitetip Shark Attacks Diver.
In addition to great marine life on The Brothers Islands, there are also two wreck dives too. These include the Aida Wreck and the Numidia Wreck.
Aida Wreck Diving – Big Brother
The Aida Wreck can be dived from Big Brother, which is 75 metre (246 feet) Italian troop ship. The Aida is still fairly well intact and attracts plenty of marine life and is covered in soft corals. The Aida wreck starts off in shallows waters of about 15 metres (49 feet), and goes down to 45 metres (148 feet) deep.
As with most dives on Big Brother, the current can be very strong on the Aida Wreck.
The Aida Wreck hit Big Brother on 15th September 1957 in a heavy storm. The ship struck the reef despite the captain having several warnings, which he decided to ignore and tried to moor at Big Brother. The Aida sank very quickly and the captain had no choice but to abandon ship with his crew.
Numidia Wreck Diving – Big Brother
The Numidia Wreck can be found on Big Brother and lies almost vertically from about 10 metres (33 feet) deep to 85 metres (279 feet) deep.
As a recreational diver, you can dive along the corridors of the bridge and down to the front cover and to the first hold of the Numidia. If you are certified to dive to 40 metres (131 feet) deep, you can also dive to the engine room too.
The Numidia wreck dive is only fully appreciated by technical divers due it its depth, so if you are a tech diver this is a great wreck dive, which means you need to choose a Red Sea liveaboard that supports technical diving.
Make sure to keep an eye out in the blue for sharks too, and be careful as there can often times be strong currents on the Numidia wreck dive.
The Numidia Wreck was a 137 metre (449 feet) long British Cargo ship that was built in Glasgow in 1901, and sunk on its way to India in 1901. When she sank there were 97 crew onboard. The Numidia was loaded with 7,000 tons of railway materials, which included railways, small wagons and steam engines.

MV Red Sea Blue Force 3; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 9.4 out of 10 and is rated 'Superb'; from £113, $138, €129/day. Customer Review: ”Beautiful boat, delicious food, wonderful service, great diving, will definitely go back! 1) Great itinerary and definitely value for the price we paid. We started diving from the North of Sinai, at the beautiful Ras Mohammed reefs, did the Thistlefgrom, Dunsraven and Yolanda wrecks, dove at the Panorama reef and the eerie Salem Express wreck near Safaga, then onto a reef near Marsa Alam where we snorkeled with school of dolphins! Then it’s the Brother Islands where we saw the legendary Thresher shark and were circled by a curious (man-eating) Oceanic White-tip shark on different morning dives! Wow! Then to top off the week, the Hurghada Marriott Hotel that ‘Blue Force 3’ had paid for and booked us into, at the end of the liveaboard, was a superb hotel that had helped me to line up great activities to do in and near Hurghada at great prices and no hassle! 2) Staffs and crews were the best! The 3 dive guides were always smiling and never got tired of our many requests and questions, very professional and very knowledgeable of the Red Sea dive sites, marine life and very safety conscious and always look out for our well being. The crews on the boat are very pleasant and ever helpful and they keep the boat in tip top shape and so clean! 3) Luxurious dive boat—food is wholesome, filling, plentiful and tasty! The pastries are out of this world! Drinks of all kind (and clean glasses) are always available. The staff kept everything tidy and spotless at all times. Comfortable chairs and sofa everywhere for resting and lapping. A great selection of current and old movies! Powerful flushing toilet, piping hot shower at all hours. In addition, onboard reference catalogues of Red Sea sites and marine animals were very useful and educational! I won’t hesitate to go back in a second!” Recommended for: 1) Great itinerary, thus value for money paid, 2) very knowledgeable, safety-conscious and super friendly staff, 3) luxurious dive boat. |

MY Oceanos; Liveaboard diving in Egypt; 8.6 out of 10 and is rated 'Fabulous'; from £130, $159, €148/day. Customer Review: “Challenging but brilliant dives. I was traveling alone, but had luckily many English speaking divers onboard. So I met plenty of other divers I could talk with. The food onboard was very good and definitely enough. The first dive was a test dive to check if weights are enough and every diver is able to use the SMB properly. This is mandatory as every buddy team has to set the SMB at the end of every dive. Most dives starts from the Zodiac and also the pick up is mainly from the Zodiacs. As the dive sites are in the ocean current can occur. This makes the dives sometimes challenging, but still great. As I had not the deep diver specialty certification before (dive to 40 m) I did my course onboard. The instructor (also the owner of the board) was a great teacher, as safety was for her most important. I had a great trip and would do the journey again.” Recommended for: Friendly staff, well organized, good food. |
