Scuba diving with turtles in the Red Sea on the Thistlegorm wreck at night

One of my best dives ever was a dive on the Thistlegorm wreck in the Red Sea, when my buddy and I came across two of the biggest leatherback turtles sleeping on a metal plate.

It was a night dive and we made sure we didn’t disturb them, but enjoyed the sight and experience.

We were also lucky that we were able to do a rare night dive on the Thistlegorm. It’s unusual because of the currents around the wreckage.

We were fortunate to have a slack period during the dive itself. But I do recall on the ascent the strong current that was so strong it was pushing on my mask and making it leak!
