Shark Bay is one of the named areas around Wolf Island, in the remote north of the Galápagos archipelago. Divers settle near the volcanic reef and watch the blue for scalloped hammerheads, Galápagos sharks and silky sharks. Rays, turtles, dolphins and large schools of fish may join the action, with whale sharks possible in season.

Current drives the experience and can be strong or very strong. Negative entries, close group control and blue-water safety stops are normal possibilities. Divers need reliable buoyancy, sensible gas management and confidence using a surface marker buoy. This is not a site for building basic open-water experience.

Shark Bay can only be reached by liveaboard because Wolf Island lies far beyond day-boat range. It forms part of a northern itinerary with Wolf Island, Darwin Island and sometimes El Arenal. Multiple days in the north give a far better chance of experiencing changing pelagic activity than a single dive could.
