Punta Carrion Liveaboard Dive Site

Punta Carrión lies on the north-eastern side of Santa Cruz and offers a useful introduction to Galápagos diving. Rocky reef, sand and open-water edges attract green turtles, rays, sea lions, reef sharks and a broad mix of fish. Hammerheads and mobulas are possible, but the site is best approached for its variety rather than as a guaranteed big-animal dive.

Conditions are often more manageable than at Darwin, Wolf or the western islands, which is why the area may be used for an early itinerary dive. Current can still build, and visibility changes with tide and season. Divers should use the check dive to settle weighting and equipment instead of assuming every later dive will feel the same.

A day boat can reach Punta Carrión, but a liveaboard avoids a separate journey and places the dive within a wider route including North Seymour Island and Isla Baltra. Early scheduling may also reduce overlap with other boats.
