Hyndman Reef is a remote reef dive in Elba Reef, Egypt, within an area known for expedition-style reefs and isolated pinnacles. The precise entry point and route depend on current, weather and the cruise director’s assessment, so an itinerary reference should not be treated as a guarantee that every departure will dive the site.

The most productive side of the reef changes with the water movement. Divers should remain close to the guide, control their depth and be prepared for a negative entry or blue-water pickup where the briefing requires it.

A liveaboard is the practical way to combine this site with several dives across Elba Reef. Carry a surface marker buoy, follow the boat’s current and pickup procedures and use nitrox only when qualified and after analysing the cylinder.
