Finger Point is a compact thila extending towards Makunudu Channel in the northwest of North Male Atoll. Its position in moving water makes it a natural gathering point for sharks, rays and schooling fish, with grey reef sharks and eagle rays providing the encounters for which the site is best known.

The pinnacle is connected to Himmaya Faru by a narrow sandy bridge and is only around 50 metres long. This makes positioning important: the most rewarding action is normally on the current-facing side, but divers must avoid being swept away from the reef or descending beyond the planned depth while watching the pelagic activity.

Finger Point is most appropriate for advanced divers comfortable with drift diving and negative entries. Current can change with the tide, so the guide may alter the entry point, route or maximum depth. A streamlined equipment setup, dive computer and surface marker buoy are essential, and a reef hook should only be used where the operator permits it and without damaging living coral.

A liveaboard visit can be particularly worthwhile because the boat can approach early and coordinate the dive with the better tidal window. That may provide a quieter experience than arriving after resort and day boats, although wildlife and current conditions can never be guaranteed.
