Cave Rock rises from the seabed off southwest Eleuthera as a substantial coral mound surrounded by smaller coral heads. Its caves, arches and swim-throughs create changing shafts of sunlight, while ledges and shaded openings give reef fish and invertebrates somewhere to shelter.

The site is normally explored at recreational depth, with much of the interest around 10–15 metres. Silversides can gather inside the darker spaces, while Nassau grouper, red hind, snappers and parrotfish move around the outer reef. Look beneath overhangs for spiny lobsters and moray eels, and keep an eye over the sand and into the blue for turtles, spotted eagle rays and Caribbean reef sharks. These are possible encounters rather than promises.

Open Water divers can enjoy the coral mound without entering every overhead space. Anyone choosing a swim-through should be comfortable with buoyancy, remain within sight of an exit and follow the guide’s route. A torch helps reveal colour and marine life beneath the ledges, even during a bright daytime dive. The Cave Rock site description places the mound in about 15 metres of water and identifies its caves and swim-throughs as the defining feature.

Cave Rock forms part of the southwest Eleuthera routes used by Bahamas liveaboards. Staying aboard avoids arranging isolated day-boat transfers and allows the itinerary to link the site with other Bahamian reefs, walls and current dives. The liveaboard advantage is not that Cave Rock is inaccessible from land, but that you arrive as part of a planned offshore circuit and spend more of the week diving. Boats may offer up to several dives a day and optional night dives at suitable sites, although Cave Rock should not be assumed to be the night-diving location.
